Played tourist todayand stopped at the overlook on the San Marcos Pass and read every single historical marker from Chumash to Californios to flora and fauna. I never knew the botanical name for the cottonwood was after Capt John C Fremont, as were several other native California plant species. He was a #southerner btw from Georgia. #sanmarcospass
