Back by popular demand! Join award-winning California artist and instructor Tim Horn and me in the stunning Santa Ynez Valley for painting en plein air and relaxing at Rancho La Zaca.
If you are not familiar with Tim’s work, feast your eyes.
Our painting locations will include mountains, vineyards, beaches, and Rancho La Zaca itself, all set amid the breathtaking backdrop of the Valley with its winding country roads, horses roaming the hills, and possibly an occasional real-life cowboy or film star. I hasten to add that Tim Horn is a star himself, such a good teacher, and also adorable, which makes his classes that much more fun.
We’ll warm up with some still life exercises before venturing further afield for a variety of landscapes. As with all Tim’s workshops, the primary focus will be on capturing that beautiful California light.
Included are four full days of painting with Tim, lunches each day, and a gorgeous gourmet dinner prepared by Rancho La Zaca’s own Chef Sass Ferris.
Instruction is geared toward advanced beginners and intermediates working in oil, though other media are welcome.
Our group will be small, and we do ask that all participants be vaccinated.
Plan to arrive the afternoon of October 24 for refreshments and a presentation by Tim. We will then revel in four full painting days October 25-28, and will bid you farewell at the end of the evening on Friday the 28th with a beautiful al fresco dinner at Rancho La Zaca, and a toast to your fine, hard work.
We encourage you to extend your stay to explore the area. Perhaps cruise down to Santa Barbara or LA, or up North on the 101 to anywhere, and carry on with your painting!
