Love the chintz in the drawing room on the Royal Yacht Britannia, now decommissioned and docked in Edinburgh. The queen specifically wanted it to be more country house comfortable than palace grand, and it is decorated that way. If you are here, be sure to do this tour. It is fascinating!!!

A sweet(?) little Slitherin makes her way to Platform 9 and 3/4. So cute! I waited too long to stand in the queue to take a picture. Had to make the train to Edinburgh…

Now you know. At the Royal Academy, a charming and quirky exhibit by two artists about their artist parents. I think. Is a little hard to figure out but fun to see, particularly on the back of the impressive and cerebral Renzo Piano exhibit… And good advice on pencils, though Mr Piano apparently did not use an HB so much as he used a green felt pen. I love that. .

The amazing light and clouds over Trafalgar Square as I emerged frim the #nationalgallery fantastic exhibition of #courthauldcollection Impressionist paintings.

One of the hot spots on the island of Giglio, which we visited by boat after the parade in Orbetello (see last post) Giglio is a charming old fishing port accessible only by boat, made (in)famous in recent years as the site of the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster and disgrace. After 4 years the wreckage was finally removed and you’d never know it happened. .

Surrey with the fringe on top! Crowd favorites in the Cinque Centi parade yesterday in Orbetello, the yellow driven by our friend Daisy Corsini. There must have been more than 100 of these tiny 4-wheelers made by Fiat and recently re-introduced in the American market. So you can have one too. Though these convertible versions are a little harder to come by. @kateholmessnapslanding

The beach at Porto Ercole is still quite busy even in late September , when it is still so beautiful and the light is warm and clear. This would be a fun painting
