It is ironic that we might yearn for retreat even as we are in a kind of retreat as many of us continue to shelter in place, and it is a yearning that begs to be answered. Looking at a beautiful photo or piece of art is a kind of retreat, as is a walk, or a swim, or a cup of tea and a book. Like many in the last few weeks I’ve experienced shifts in perception of the world around me that call me to educate myself further about things I thought I knew but realize maybe I don’t.
