Not that we need a reason to have a dog but this charismatic 8-year-old delivered the best I’ve heard, and to a crowd of some 600 (mostly) grown-ups at the @aspca lunch in NYC last week : “And for those of you who don’t have a dog, who do you blame the farts on?!” Brought the house down, I mean for like 5 minutes! (I wouldnt have wanted to follow him on the podium…) Three hundred cheers for dog advocate, “dog whisperer” , and ASPCA Kid of the Year Roman McConn, from Evans, Georgia. Everybody loves Alex,btw, and no wonder he has a bazillion Instagram followers. He has a brilliant eye, an adorable personality, and a big and generous heart. The gold rimmed chargers! The wicker cachepot! The spectacular flowers are by @zezeflowers whom I also use myself. What a wonderful sense of color he has. Congratulations to all on a successful launch.

So when i left the library, SNOW had happened and was beautiful … and then a pain. Glad at any rate to be in New York though my heart breaks for my adopted home state of California, in my prayers this night and always.

Spied this handsome young fellow strolling through the vineyard yesterday morning. With beautiful dark markings, he must have been young because he was so nonchalant. Bobcats are normally very shy. This one sat for a while snacking on grapes spilled from the recent harvest, waited for me to get my camera, then casually sauntered off occasionally looking back as if to make sure I got his good side. .
