His Grace and I are not traveling this weekend, or , it seems… for the rest of our lives…NO, hush! Not true! Chin up all ye not-yet-vaccinated (including me), we are closer every day! Meanwhile, I am revisiting the handsome Inchyra House with @houseandgarden. A beautiful Regency mansion overlooks the Ochil Hills outside Perth, the state has prospered under James and Caroline Inchyra, who have created a gorgeous line of fabrics and linens and a terribly romantic wedding venue in the old Victorian barn they call The Byre, which also serves as headquarters for a local arts group. Step inside this wonderful Scottish setting in my stories! @inchyrahouse Design by @carolineinchyra.textiles Photography by @lucasallenphoto

This is just delicious. A tender, moist, lightly crumbly pound cake made with butter AND cream cheese. Oh yes. Loaded with a creamy orange flavor, or you can substitute lemon. It’s the perfect thing for afternoon tea, which one loves. Though to be honest sometimes one skips the tea and has a Diet Coke instead, and cake is also good with that. Head to my stories for the full recipe of this sweet treat. Recipe and photo by @onesarcasticbaker

We planted daffodils this year for the first time at the ranch and I am so happy-dil! They are actually growing (#miracle) and blooming their little hearts out, and Imabout to bust. The Bankshire rose is dojng well too after a couple of years, and it reminds of our mama’s garden in Tarboro. I always thought it was called Lady Bank Sharose, which sounds more like a drag queen diva than a flower. Happy Spring and Happy Vaxing! Hope you get yours soon!!! (Im one down, one to go…) oh, and @cultivatedbychristin I am still loving this earthenware container from your workshop at @cambo_gardens and fun with @rosestoryfarm . . #rancholazaca #yellow #dadfodils #wildiris #ladybankshirerose #bankshireroses #weeds #francesschultzflowers

So I sort of love the idea of a beautiful upholstered French canape in the bath, and what I envision is Monsieur lounging on it with a martini and chatting with Madame sipping same au bain in clouds of bubbles. That’s where this picture takes me. And look at the #Aquadeparma products on the tub picking up the yellow of the sofa. Also, I love the floor. Design and photography by @thedpages

So much to love olive trees’ silvery foliage and the way they bend with the wind. Van Gogh’s paintings of olives are some of my favorites. The trees are drought tolerant and are pretty much bullet-proof. See growing tips in my stories, and you can even grow them inside! When you live in a town (well near a town) named Los Olivos, you develop an innate fondness for the things. We have a grove of olives by our house that forms a cathedral-like canopy where His Grace and I were married. Aww. And who wouldn’t want such an elegant, graceful plant indoors as well? Inside you say?? If you’re considering bringing a bit of Southern California, Provence, or Tuscany into your house, take a look at my link in bio for everything you need to know to grow one of these beauties. Photography by @jamiebeck.co

The glory that is “de Gournay: Hand-Painted Interiors” is a collection of lush interiors of Chinoiserie wallpaper and handpainted murals. You may just be tempted to tear out each page and frame it, hmmm, now I think of it… or decoupage. Better get two copies. Like being in an exotic garden, @degournay’s timeless and exquisite work is sublime and transforming. Visit my link in bio for more. Design by @degournay Photography by @studio_db

Sailing, take me away to where I’m going. His Grace is more of a speedboat kind of guy, but I love sailing. Used to teach it when I was a teen—Sunfishes, mind you. Dreaming of soon-to-come warmer days out on the water! Photography by @stylemepretty

We made it to Wednesday and that deserves a little pick me up, right?! Made with St. Germain liqueur, this cucumber elderflower gimlet is refreshing and cool. And the St. German bottle itself is a stylish addition to your bar cart. Break out those ‘tini glasses and stop by my stories to wet your whistle. Photography by @cookieandkate

Just for fun I turned in at Lake Cachuma on my way home from Santa Barbara the other day. I’d never really seen it except from the road, and my painting group had been there (sans moi alas) several times and loved it. Gosh it was worth the detour! Stunning! It was a beautiful day ( unlike chilly drizzly now) and the water was an almost preternatural blue. I took a few pics and am playing w compositions. This is a quick just-get-something-down study but i liked the simplicity of it… and the shadow shapes, and that blue. To be continued… . #lakecachuma #santabarbaracounty #pleinair #landscapepainting #seascape #landscape

Creative collaboration at its finest: designer @rachelashwell and @wildlybeautifulflowers arranged this exuberant assembly of Peruvian lilies, hydrangeas, and bellflowers for a country house hotel in Somerset, England. Y’all know I love twin beds. They’re so, like, weekend-at-my-godmother’s-when-I-was-in-boarding-school, you know? I had twin beds in my room growing up, too. Every year, celebrated interior designer @suzannekasler launches a summer collection, and the 2018 wicker is a favorite. Let’s create a spot of summer at home all year long. WOW snow-capped mointains. We don’t see this often in sunny Southern California and maybe 2x a decade in Los Olivos. This photo by @w.cromer is from our porch at #rancholazaca. Isn’t it great!
