How I love living in a place where lavender grows. There is a newly planted field on my drive to town, and I love seeing it in all its seasons. We have a bit in our so-called garden at the ranch as well, especially lining the path to the pond. A couple of the plants are especially exuberant and we’ll be needing to curb their enthusiasm. If you want to see a truly spectacular display of the plant in bloom, visit Sequim, Washington. A temperate climate and a cluster of small farmers there have encouraged lavender fields to flourish forever! If you are growing it yourself, do the ‘Halloween Haircut’ and prune in late October for the makings of a beautiful floral centerpiece.
