My heart skips a beat and I confess a little lump in my throat when I remember this shot at my beloved Bee Cottage in East Hampton. Our living spaces hold our stories, many of them universal. Bee Cottage countenanced heartbreak and joy, family heirlooms and flea market flotsam. It tolerated ad hoc collections of art, rocks, shells, bird nests, and my travel mementos. My book “The Bee Cottage Story” is still in print (its 6th!) and signed copies available via my website, link in profile. Take a walk down memory lane with me (and @flowermag!) and tour Bee Cottage in my stories. Photography by Tria Giovan

The dapper and charming (and so much else) Vernon Jordan, rest in peace. Well done. His Grace knew him and his wife, as did many of my Atlanta friends. I met him a few times in New York. He had a twinkle. A giant and a gentleman who worked courageously and tirelessly for justice and for truth. 1980 photo via AP/M Nederhandler

“I dont care if it looks like me, I just want it to be young and thin,” said our inimitable mama to portrait artist #robertbrucewilliams. Hence a size 4, 40-something of size 12, 60-something Ruth, and nevertheless beautifully captures her. Happy Birthday precious Mama. Miss you every day. @duvallfuqua

Celebrating our first daffodills, bulbs a gift from darling @marywatkinswood and planted with love and the help of grand @djpipertini1016 , Im loving this arrangement of bright warm colors . Palette reminds me of my divine godmother @carolineclarktrask , who loves these colors and whose beautiful Beaufort, SC, house sings with them. . . #rancholazaca #franceschultzflowers #daffodils #dahlias #alstromeria #tulips #ladybankshirerose

This Parisian rooftop garden has me dreaming of summer parties and dining alfresco. Although I sometimes feel I live in an endless summer here in Los Olivos, I look forward to the warm summer nights, which are rarer, and we can linger after dinner on the porch or in the olive grove without shivering. Photography by @gregoryblakesamsevents

Some days I just have to see the ocean. you have to bring it back to the basics to ground yourself. Salt in the air, the wind in your hair, and waves. Does it for me every time, grounds me (waters me?) in the sweetest gratitude. How wonderful is this oceanside pool in Australia? Recently highlighted in @cerealmag, I have added it to my list of must-visit places! Photography by @carmenchan

Classic design stands the test of time. This Newport estate’s interiors have not changed since 1974, nor need they. As featured in @townandcountrymag, this storied “cottage” is as charming and inviting as ever. My mother had a white-painted cast iron table and chairs in our black-and-white-tiled breakfast room growing up, and this reminds me of that, though ours was not nearly as grand. Design by Valerian Rybar Photography by @douglasfriedman

This fellow waiting to greet us when we got home today. What a beautiful sight. Happy hunting my red shouldered friend. If the million thousand gopher holes around here are any indication, you shall not go hungry. . #rancholazaca #hawk #santaynezvalley #homesweethome

Originating in China as early as the 4th century, curtained beds again came into fashion in Medieval times, with the effect of creating a “room within a room” in the desperate hope of not freezing one’s buns off. Pairing the right fabrics, colors, and print size for bed curtains is a real art, as Brian David Philip did here so beautifully. The sconces are like earrings for the romantic Moorish-inspired headboard and are practical as well. A bed that is both cozy and sumptuous is surely one of life’s great luxuries and can be created with budgets both modest and lavish. Design by Brian David Philip Curtains by Robert Allen linen Featured in @archdigest

For all my fellow plant lovers, plant stands are an elegant way to group your green babies into one space without cluttering. Sweet southern soul @juliaberolzheimer and her husband styled their Charleston, South Carolina, porch with pops of color, courtesy of hydrangeas, and other flowering plants. Styling by @lizziecullencox Photography by @hectormsanchezphoto Plant stand from @petershamnurseries
